What is Transactional Analysis?
Dr. Eric Berne, physician, surgeon and psychiatrist, developed his own theory of personality and the understanding of mental disorders - Transactional Analysis (TA) - from the 1950s onwards, through practical experience with patients and in contrast to his psychoanalytic training.
TA is based on a depth psychological and a social psychiatric dimension. Berne understood the latter as interpersonal and also environmental-context occurences.
In TA, people are understood as beings who can think, feel, act and perceive their bodies. We made a lot of decisions early on, based on the circumstances at the time, about what we can change today. We have all become, who we are, through relationship and it will be through relationship that we become, who we want to be, in the future.
The focus of TA is resource-oriented:
"What helps, as quickly and sustainably as possible?"
